Fire marshal: 3-way investigation underway into East Meadow house fire

Fire marshal: 3-way investigation underway into East Meadow house fire
Nassau County Fire Marshal Chief Michael Uttaro has confirmed that the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office, the Nassau County Detective Arson Bomb Squad and NYPD are investigating a fire Friday in East Meadow.
The Fire Marshal's Office says that the house on Maitland Street was unoccupied, but Nassau police have stated all the house's occupants were evacuated at the time.
An NYPD spokesperson confirmed the incident is under internal investigation. When questioned about the fire taking place at the residence of Officer Javier Rodriguez, stated that Rodriguez's duty status is modified.
The East Meadow Fire Department took the call for a house on fire at 11:47 p.m. When responders arrived, they saw a two-story house engulfed in flames.
The fire was brought under control by numerous fire departments within 45 minutes. A firefighter suffered smoke inhalation and was transported to a hospital for evaluation and treatment, according to police.
The Fire Marshal's Office reported no injuries.
East Meadow firefighters were assisted by North Bellmore, Wantagh and North Merrick fire departments, with approximately 60 firefighters on scene.
