Family and friends turned out in Babylon Wednesday to pay their respects to a firefighter killed in the line of duty.
Michael Greene, 43, was killed Friday after being shocked by an electric sign on top of a Lindenhurst restaurant. He and other firefighters were removing a tarp from the roof. The 12-year veteran is survived by his wife and four children.
Those in attendance describe Greene as a true fireman in every sense of the word. They say he loved to help people and was very loyal and unselfish. Greene was named firefighter of the year in West Babylon after he helped rescue a woman from a burning home. He was due to receive the Silver Medal of Valor for his heroism.
