Environmental advocates are urging Gov. Kathy Hochul to sign a bill that would ban certain pesticides they say are killing bees.
The “Birds and Bees Protection Act” would ban the use of corn, wheat and soybean coated with neonicotinoid pesticides.
In addition to being dangerous to bees, environmentalists say it also pollutes drink and groundwater.
They say just one neonic-treated corn seed has enough active ingredient to kill about a quarter of a million bees.
