The protests at Stony Brook led to varying reactions from students and spurred questions about free speech.
One student told News 12 she felt that her fellow students were being "silenced" and that it was "disheartening."
But another student said that while she supports free speech, this became less of an issue of free speech and more so one of "hostility" toward other students.
She said she and other Jewish students had been harassed.
Student Deron Ghimre said, "Everyone has a right to protest but it should be done safely."
