Suffolk police arrested an East Northport woman Wednesday for allegedly attacking her disabled son two weeks ago.
According to police, 58-year-old Karyl Betts had an argument with her 32-year-old son Jeffrey Betts and beat him at their Given Lane home on January 18. Karyl is accused of hitting her son, who is a quadriplegic and suffers from Cerebral Palsy, in the face and striking his neck with a cane. On January 29, Adult Protective Services placed Jeffrey in Huntington Hospital for his safety and notified the Domestic Violence and Elder Abuse Bureau.
Karyl Betts is charged with one misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of an incompetent or disabled person. Her arraignment is scheduled for Thursday.
