An East Hampton Village police officer and a traffic control officer were found in an alleged love tryst in someone else's home.

Officials tell News 12 the 31-year-old patrolman has been suspended and the 20-year-old traffic officer has been fired after the two were found in a house on Talmage Lane. The house is located around the corner from the police department.

According to police, the 20-year-old woman works part-time as a cleaner at the house and the homeowner does not live there year-round.

News 12 has learned friends of the homeowner found the two when they arrived at the home to celebrate the New Year holiday.

In a statement to News 12, Village Mayor Paul Rickenbach said an internal investigation is being done.

"This conduct is totally unbecoming of a police officer working for the village," he said.

Police tell News 12 that further departmental action is expected.
