The waterfront 4th of July show that entertains hundreds of Long Islanders is canceled this year.
Reports say the Dolan family canceled its annual fireworks show in Oyster Bay harbor for a number of private reasons.
The Dolan family owns Cablevision, the parent company of News 12.
Last year, three children were killed in a boating accident in the harbor after the fireworks show. The children were among 27 people watching from the harbor when the boat they were in capsized, sank and trapped them inside.
A Dolan family spokesperson told News 12, "For a number of reasons, the Dolan family will not be hosting a July 4 party this year. The family is aware that many people make plans around the fireworks and wanted to get the word out early. The reasons are private as is the party."
