Gov. Andrew Cuomo sent a letter to the MTA outlining what the transportation authority needs to do to improve service for commuters.
His top priority is making all stations accessible for people with disabilities.
Some commuters who have disabilities say the Massapequa Park station is very difficult to get around.
"It's been going on for 20 years. They're not going to fix this, they can barely get the escalator working," said Barry Auslander.
Cuomo wants the MTA to address quality-of-life issues, including the number of homeless people at stations and aggressive panhandlers.
The governor also says New York City's outer boroughs and the Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad should get an equal share of MTA resources.
Back in July, the LIRR told News 12 that it was their priority to make all stations wheelchair accessible, but no one seems to know when that will happen.
In a statement the MTA said it fully supports Cuomo's agenda and is working to address accessibility issues.
