It’s the first day of the 43rd annual Paumanauke Pow Wow Festival at Tanner Park in Copiague.

It’s an inter-tribal event where the public can enjoy dancing, music, art and vendors selling clothing and food.

"It's my family, they mean everything to me. It's always special to share our culture with everyone," said Cheyenne "Little Moon" Langhorn, the festival's head dancer.

The event is hosted by the Paumanauke Native American festival, the Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts and the Town of Babylon.

Organizers say a portion of ticket sales and donations go toward scholarships for college students.

“It’s not large scholarships but it’s enough to help them out," said Gerri Goodlin, president of the Paumanauke Native American Festival.

The event continues all day Sunday.
