Cultural centers on North Shore suffer flooding damage in storm aftermath

The Long Island Museum's collection survived the storm, but its workspace was a different story.

Fans, wet vacs and dehumidifiers are an unwelcomed, but necessary, addition to The Jazz Loft’s historical collections.
Founder Tom Manuel says thankfully, their exhibits were mostly spared, but they do have a lot of damage.
The Jazz Loft’s one-of-a-kind memorabilia wasn’t ruined from the rush of water into their historical building.
It is just one of many cultural centers in the Three Village area that was in the eye of the storm.
Edward Puchner, with the Gallery North, said, “I spent all yesterday trying to actually save artwork that had been submerged in 6 inches of water.”
Gallery North is being forced to temporarily close because it had six feet of water in the basement.
