The streets in Wantagh were jampacked with people for the
annual July Fourth parade on Saturday.
Last year's parade was canceled because of COVID-19. This
year, the rain did not dampen the spirit of paradegoers.
Families took cover under umbrellas and inside their
vehicles as they watched the marching bands, fire trucks, and everyone else
decked out in Fourth of July rain gear while waving their flags.
Many say they wouldn't have missed this for the world as
it's an annual tradition.
"It's important for people to realize that things
happen in life but you can always find a way to move forward,” says Mike
Recher, of Wantagh. “…We're out here enjoying ourselves even though it's
wet…We're happy we find a way to make it work.”
