Some of the area’s best summer entertainment pops up when the sun goes down. You don’t have to look or travel far for a good time between the shows, concerts and carnivals, but it may be a wise idea to budget for some of it.
“Almost every weekend, there's an event that happens,” said Marshal Cohen, Circana’s chief retail analyst.
Jones Beach houses one of the country’s coolest seasonal venues and a stellar summer lineup.
“The Who is coming. They run at $75 a ticket all the way up to $500 for those front row seats,” said Cohen.
For other popular groups like the Dave Matthews Band, Cohen says tickets are averging between $50 and $250.
For entertainment that speaks to every age group, the local carnival may be the event to bring the entire family together.
“Carnivals pop up in many towns all around the area. These run at around $15 for admission for the adults and $5 for the kids.”
Of course, no carnival is complete with the food. If you’re bringing cash for that extra expense, Cohen suggests $14 on average.
Don’t think you have to spend to enjoy. Cohen reminds there are many free concerts by township.
