Santa Claus had some big help this year from Heidi and Joel MacDonald, the owner of Notorious Tattoo in Centereach.
Last year, the couple helped save the holidays after seeing a story on News 12 about hundreds of presents being stolen from a toy drive organized by New York Auto Detailing in Bay Shore.
This year, despite their own struggles during the pandemic, they decided to do it again – getting a massive amount of toy donations for kids in need.
“At a time like this where everybody does need help – if everybody just gives a little bit, it adds up to a lot,” says Heidi MacDonald.
The tattoo team arrived at the auto body shop with several cars overflowing with more than 700 presents.
Jose Gonzalez and his business partner Amee Hernandez Waites have already been collecting and handing out presents for a month in the Bay Shore and Brentwood communities. They were overjoyed to get another heap of toys.
“I know each toy is going to make the difference for a lot of kids,” says Gonzalez.
Donations are still being collected at NY Auto Detailing off Pine Aire Drive. If anyone needs a toy, they can come pick one up.
Toys can still be donated at New York Auto Detailing at 11 Madison Ave. and 220 Brentwood Road in Bay Shore.
