Hundreds of people turned out to Jones Beach Saturday for a walk aimed at raising funds and awareness for brain aneurysms.

It marked the seventh annual walk, and it was attended both by people who have survived aneurysms and people who have lost loved ones to them.

"My father was the most healthiest person, always worked out, always watched what he ate," said Nicole Neubauer, of Levittown, who participated in the walk. "It was so sudden, so unexpected. He just was having headaches, had pain in the back of neck, and one night he just laid on a pillow and that was it."

One of the goals of the walk was to raise awareness of the warning signs, which can include severe headaches, stiff neck or neck pain, nausea and blurred vision.

Organizers hoped to raise $100,000 for the Brain Aneurysm Center at North Shore-LIJ and the Brain Aneurysm Foundation.
