A man fired a gun at another man at the Freeport Long Island Rail Road station on Friday afternoon, according to officials.
The incident occurred at 4:37 p.m. after the two men got into an argument aboard the LIRR train from Babylon to Penn Station, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police Department. The argument escalated, leading to one of the men firing a single round, but it did not strike the other man.
The MTAPD interviewed witnesses and collected video and physical evidence, including a shell casing recovered at the scene, to determine what happened, police said.
The men did not remain at the scene.
The Freeport Police Department is canvassing area hospitals to see if either man was admitted.
There was no impact on train service.
The investigation is ongoing.
