Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone provided his Tuesday COVID-19 update, with major new information on the property tax front.
NOTES:
- Bellone announces that Suffolk will have access to relief funds that could provide aid to county property taxpayers. The issue, which Bellone has talked about several times, is in relation to the Suffolk County Tax Act.
- Bellone says they are working with taxing jurisdictions, developing workable plan so that county can provide tax relief, 'without causing long-term damage.'
- Hopes to announce a 'workable plan' by the end of the week.
- Bellone: 'Numbers are going up by a much slower rate.' -- 33,231 cases in total.
- Decline in COVID-19 hospitalizations by 15, 1,082 total.
- 29 COVID-19 deaths, 1,131 death toll.
- 44 COVID-19 hospital discharges.
- 'Getting closer to CDC guidelines' of 14 days of decline that can allow Suffolk to look toward reopening process.
