Police: Hempstead man charged in Uniondale hit-and-run that left 60-year-old injured

Police say Robert Hauswald hit the victim just before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday near Front Street and Maple Avenue.

A Hempstead man is facing charges for hitting a 60-year-old pedestrian with his car on Tuesday night and leaving the scene.

Police say Robert Hauswald hit the victim just before 7:30 p.m. near Front Street and Maple Avenue.

The victim was hospitalized for leg and head injuries, according to authorities.

Hauswald is charged with leaving the scene of an incident and is due back in court next month.
