Long Beach Police Commissioner Ronald Walsh will not be awarded a new three-year contract, following a vote by the City Council.

The council voted 2-2 on the resolution. Councilwoman Karen McInnis, who would have broken the tie, is on vacation in Italy and did not vote.

The contract would have hired Walsh for another three years at a salary of $220,000 per year.

Walsh also serves as Long Beach’s acting city manager.
