And storm watch team. Meteorologist, Alex Calamia, Alex. If folks are going out and about today for any of those winter activities, it looks like the rain is going to stop at some point. Right. Yeah. You know, I mean, but it might not be until after the day ends in a sense because sun sets before 430 now and I don't really see us getting a big break from the rain until the evening time. This is what it looks like. Right now in midtown, it's a light rain. You might actually be able to head outside without even using the umbrella. I personally have a rain jacket because I think that's kind of your best bet. This evening, we still have some sprinkles, but we are dry for a work week. I mean, I don't want to talk about the work week on a Sunday morning, but if you're looking for something positive, I've got that for you in the 10 day. Here's 9 a.m. soaker, here's lunch time, still dealing with at least light showers. You see the green is a lighter shade here so it's not as widespread. It's not as heavy of a rain. But we still have some rain at four o'clock again. It's not absolutely pouring, but it's light mist, gloomy, kind of just, you know, not good weather, but it's not going to be anything really significant as far as rainfall totals. They're very limited. So we're maybe looking at half of an inch of rain when it's all said and done. Monday morning. Lots of sunshine. Beautiful start to the day and then the clouds push in Monday afternoon and we'll have cooler temperatures. By Tuesday. We're in the upper forties now. We're in the low fifties for highs today. Not a big jump in temperature. East breeze coming in. It feels really chilly tonight. Not bad. We're in the forties again. We do have sunshine by Monday morning. So a good feel as you're getting, the kids ready for school are heading out to work. We do hit mid ff on Monday and again, no rain after today for the whole work week. So that's something to be happy about, but it will get cold Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday too, by the way, will feel like it is in the thirties.

Day, we see the lights blinking there on the bridge. Is this gonna stick around? Yeah, unfortunately, we are looking for the foggy and cloudiness to stick around at least until we get to the early parts of tonight. But the good news is the rain in itself, folks is going to start to dissipate as we get closer towards the dinner time hours. So this is what we got going on for us on our surface man picking up where we left off again, the low pressure system which has just been funneling plenty of shower activity throughout the course of the day. Luckily, this our activity in itself though has been mainly light. And now as we get into the rest of this evening, we are looking for that rain to start to pretty much clear up. But towards Yonkers in areas like Westchester and Rockland County, some spots could see some isolated showers and even parts of the northern areas of Ulster and Duchess County. Again, you might see a couple of straight showers, but you're not necessarily gonna need that umbrella or Reindeer getting into the rest of this evening if you're going to be out Now, we've seen close to about three quarters of an inch of rainfall for parts of Westchester County. But many of us saw less than about a half of an inch from this latest event. Now, once the rain is done though, once we get to tonight, we are expecting fog to take over once again, which is gonna be lowering visibility heading into our Monday. So just be mindful that we are looking for areas of fog to start off for Monday. But until then we are looking at cloudy for the rest of this evening and steady temperatures into the forties over towards the uh New Rochelle area. So looking at our future cast, what we got again going into tonight's might see a couple of stray showers, northern parts of parts of Ulster County might even get a bit of some heavier rainfall. But again, once we get closer to around 10 o'clock, things are looking to dry out for us heading into Monday, we are looking for more sunshine. Some clouds will build once we get into our Monday afternoon as temperatures will be near 50 degrees as we roll into around three o'clock. Otherwise not expecting a whole lot more in terms of rain, but be prepared for breezy and mild for Monday. But the forties will return once again a bit on a chillier end from Tuesday into much of next week, near 40 in the upper thirties. By the time we get to Hanukkah and then we will warm back up next weekend. All right, Julian, thank you for that weather.

What a beautiful story there. Now, switching over and talking about weather headlines looks like this. I mean, we are expecting to see a little bit of a wintery approach and now we're not talking, you know, crazy monumental snow but some snowflakes, a little bit of that festive nature. Coming back to play Wednesday to Thursday. Also helpful with the colder temperatures kind of colliding on with moisture off the north and west and across the Great Lakes. Now today we're still, you know, enjoying these kind of sleepy moody gray vibes as a rainy day, still pretty on par for this afternoon. A chilly temperatures surge back into play also on Tuesday and heading into Thursday all in all. We're trending still close to, you know what we were expecting a close to two, 1/10 of an inch to a half an inch in cross coastal communities when it's all said and done in the rain eventually pushes out. Now, the bulk of the rain set up and a lot more of that heavier moderate rainfall coupled with a bit more of that cooling trend in air is just north and further away from us to really not impact us too much. We'll notice that the showers are going to continue to taper off as we progress into the afternoon time frame kind of slowly sliding off a little bit sooner than expected. By one o'clock, Cornwall across of Torrington, Litchfield County, you'll notice a bit more of the heavier rainfall. Now it then it becomes a little bit more isolated as we progress to four o'clock, we get a good, nice clearing but the clouds will still be thick and across our region. Staying with us for a little longer. A little bit more of a Sprinkle in sprints right around the dinner time.

And things are a little bit improved out there. We do have, uh, that steady rain finally becoming a little bit more scattered, a little bit lighter shower activity as we close off the day and move into the darker parts of the evening. So four or five o'clock, not as much activity out there, but there is still some mist. There's definitely a pretty steady east breeze all the way through midnight. So don't be surprised if there's like spritzes and drizzle until about midnight or so. Then the wind shifts west. It pushes all of that gross weather out for the Monday morning commute. You are dry, you're sunny and temperatures are in the forties. It's sunny until lunch on Monday and then we get into clouds again, but no rain this time, we still have that west wind. So it's a little too dry for rain. Temperatures are around the low fifties, which is pretty good. But then we start to get a north wind and by Tuesday we are in the thirties in the morning. That's about right for this time of the year, we're gonna continue to drop. Those temperatures are going to be a lot cooler by Wednesday and Thursday, Tuesday afternoon. We're only in the low to mid forties and we have some clouds. I think that's gonna be kind of the pattern for the whole work week. It looks like that. We have sunshine in the morning clouds in the afternoon, but there is no rain in the forecast after today. So we have still a pretty decent chance of passing a shower or two in the evening because a much lighter shower at this point, there's no heavy rain in the forecast for the rest of today and we're done with the rain for the whole entire work week. Let's talk about the work week. We're expecting 45 for a high on Tuesday, 42 Wednesday and even colder Thursday, 41. Now, if you remember last week, we were in the thirties for highs some days. So this is an improvement for sure, but it is still gonna be chilly. You'll still need the heavy winter jacket, especially in the morning. We move into the next weekend and then comes the fifties. We are not done yet with some of that milder weather.

Now gonna head to weather Hilda. I know it was Misty this morning. So is that like what today is gonna be like all day? Yes and not all day, I would say for the large portion of the day, especially the day part, you know, I see a lot of the showers slowly gradually exiting right around three and four o'clock. So, you know, we're gonna deal with all this wet weather in the beginning of the day. So if you do have any outdoor plans, just make sure that you grab that trusted umbrella. Uh the ways be super active, but it could be gusty at times and we're noticing the fifties. So, Newark 5152 Clifton, 50 degrees New Brunswick 51. So it's definitely gonna be that kind of like that moody, almost like Adele vibes type of day, that cozy weather that you wanna stay inside for um a light to moderate rain into this afternoon could be expected. Now, tomorrow and Wednesday throughout Wednesday, um we are expecting things to cool down a bit and we are trending dry and there is the potential here potential. Um As we continue to watch a wintery approach with some snow flakes into the mix. Wednesday, Thursday. That'll be interesting to see if it actually comes to fruition and to life with the colder temperatures and the moisture in place. We definitely need those two components. The moisture is definitely here. The rains are going to be, um, here heading into the afternoon time frame slowly taper down. But during that time frame too, we'll notice that the heaviest rain also falls between 10 and three o'clock this afternoon by three and four, we'll notice the showers exiting. We're left with just the cloudier feel and the gray skies to contend with eventually and gradual clearing into the overnight. It's pretty widespread system but there are light showers. Um, all in all some heavier rain pockets could be expected. Um, later this morning, go right around Atlantic City. It points south of Belmar as well. Nine o'clock. It kind of just stays kind of just focused more in that southern region. But of course, notice what happens as we head into 12 o'clock, we kind of almost get clipped northwestern portions of the state for the heaviest rain. And by one o'clock, we look really good, some very light showers heading into three and four. But uh overall a nice picture here with the showers exiting a little bit sooner than anticipated. So it's not, um, truly, um, going to be long lasting at all, gradual clearing when it comes to those clouds as we say good morning to Monday and drier feels all in all. So we're not expecting these showers to truly impact by all means, but by any means, rather your Monday, by Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, we notice the temperature is slowly falling back down, making it feel much more December like.

WWI-era shipwreck discovered at bottom of Great Lakes

An enormous world war I era shipwreck has finally been discovered after 100 years on the bottom of the Great Lakes. And new details are emerging both historic and heroic. According to the Great Lakes shipwreck historical society, the steel bulk freighter Herrington was sailing in heavy fog on Lake Superior in 1923 when it collided with a loaded freighter almost twice its size. The collision tore a hole in the hull forcing the crew to flee to the freighter. However, when they realized the ship's mascot, a bulldog had been left aboard, the crew sprang into action and went back saving the dog before the ship disappeared. It lay at the lake's bottom before being found almost 100 years to the day. A compelling new study published in the journal science is suggesting North America's oldest known human footprints may be even older than previously thought. New dating methods used on the ice age. Fossils found in New Mexico's white Sands National Park now place the prints at roughly 23,000 years old, which would date them thousands of years before the earliest humans were generally believed to have arrived on the continent. Further study is needed but exciting new info is clearly afoot. Finally, since we're going back in Time Feast, your eyes on a vintage 1981 DeLorean recently discovered in an Illinois Barn and purchased still sporting its original parts as well as some new furry features. What's even more amazing is this car has only 977 miles on it. The new owner is hoping a restoration will bring this rad relic from the past and wait for it back to the future or take a look at this.
