A former PTA board member is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from an elementary school in Suffolk County.
Hope Livingston, 50, had access to the Sag Harbor PTA’s bank account during her time as vice president and co-treasurer.
From July 2021 through June 2024, Livingston withdrew $10,000 worth of cash directly from the account for her own use, prosecutors say.
The expenses included purchases from Costco, Amazon, Target, Lululemon, and other local businesses in Sag Harbor.
“Parent Teacher Associations are one of the cornerstones of school communities across Long Island,” District Attorney Ray Tierney said.
“The allegations in this case represent an egregious betrayal of the trust the residents of Sag Harbor placed in this defendant,” Tierney continued.
Livingston surrendered to the district attorney’s office on Tuesday.
The Sag Harbor woman is charged with grand larceny.
