Nassau County Legislator Siela Bynoe has declared victory in the Democratic primary for the 6th state Senate District.
Bynoe currently leads the race with 53% of the vote. Her opponent, Assemblywoman Taylor Darling, has 47%.
The two candidates are separated by 805 votes.
The race has not yet been certified by the Nassau County Board of Elections as absentee ballots are still being counted.
A total of 319 absentee ballots were counted on Wednesday. It’s unclear how many will arrive in the coming days.
Absentee ballots will be counted as long as they were postmarked by Election Day.
