Parking meter enforcement remained suspended in the village of Bellerose Wednesday as officials finished testing the meters. Meter enforcement was suspended for the past four days as officials checked to see if meters were running too fast. Village officials say all of the 101 meters that line the streets have been checked and if necessary, repairs were made. Motorists who may have been ticketed due to a faulty meter want to be reimbursed and are prepared to take the village to court. Drivers have already filed a suit against the village claiming that at least a third of the meters run fast and residents are fined unfairly. Village officials say it could take a few weeks to get the testing results back. Meter enforcement will resume Thursday.
