The remains of a Korean War veteran have been accounted for and brought to Long Island to be buried.
U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Israel Ramos, who was killed during the Korean War, was accounted for May 2, 2024.
The 18-year-old went missing in August 1950.
Ramos’ body was found in Korea in 1956, brought to Hawaii and buried as an unknown soldier.

Sgt. 1st Class Ramos was brought to his final resting place at Calverton National Cemetary after 74 years.
