A 51-year-old man who went to check on the well-being of a driver parked outside his home was almost stabbed with a long knife by a 22-year-old Deer Park man, police said.

Bryan Calderon was allegedly sitting in his Honda Civic outside a Woodbury home for an extended period when the homeowner approached to check on them, according to Nassau County police.

The two got into a verbal dispute, and police said Calderon got out of the car, went into his trunk and took out a long silver knife.

He then grabbed the 51-year-old and attempted to stab him, police said, but the homeowner, fearing for his life, was able to shove Calderon to the ground, causing him to drop the knife.

Calderon then allegedly fled the scene, and the victim immediately called 911.

Calderon was arrested the following day and charged with attempted assault, menacing and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
