The U.S. Open trophy stood front and center at Shinnecock Hills in Southampton on Tuesday.
The golf club hosted media outlets with just six weeks to go until the 126th annual tournament begins.
Media Day attendees got a first look at the build-up at the course for the big event that expects to draw a crowd of about 200,000 people.
Shuttle buses will be provided from the Calverton airfield, and the Long Island Rail Road will be building a temporary stop across from the course and increasing their service during the championship.
"There's going to be an increase in train schedules to get people out here. The dedicated bus lane will certainly help. But, on a regular day it can be tough getting in and out of here, so that’s something we are trying to manage as best we can,” noted John Podany of the U.S. Golf Association.
This will be the fifth U.S. Open to be held at Shinnecock Hills, in the modern era, and the first since 2018.
