He was incarcerated at the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in Riverhead following his arrest in July 2023.

Green Haven is one of the state’s designated intake facilities, where newly sentenced individuals are evaluated before being assigned to another correctional facility.

Heuermann will be assigned to another facility based on an evaluation of his criminal history, security risk and other factors like medical, mental health and program needs.

The intake process begins in a reception center, where he will undergo medical and security assessments and an intake interview. After a security classification is determined, he'll be sent to a facility that matches his needs, security level, and program requirements.
