Police arrested a Northampton man Friday for allegedly severely beating his pregnant girlfriend.

According to police, 33-year-old Mark Goode actively resisted arrest when they arrived at his tent on Wildwood Trail, where he has been living. Witnesses claim they heard the unidentified victim, who is seven months pregnant, screaming and crying. Police claim Goode went into a rage after accusing the woman of infidelity. When Southampton Town police officers showed up, Goode purportedly injured two of the arresting officers and damaged their patrol car.

Goode did not make the $12,000 cash bail and will remain behind bars in Riverhead until further notice. He is charged with felony counts of assault and resisting arrest. Police say the victim did not lose the baby.
