The trial of the West Babylon landlord who owns a home where three people died of carbon monoxide poisoning last year was delayed for a fourth time Friday.
The three victims were killed in November. Investigators determined a generator was running in the basement of the home. The landlord, Wilson Milord, is facing a misdemeanor town code violation hearing.
The court delayed the trial for a fourth time because Milord has hired another attorney. That attorney, Marie Pereira, is blaming the Town of Babylon for the deaths.
?If [the town] had determined that home should not have been lived in by people, they should have removed those people and made sure they had a safe place to go,? Pereira says.
Town officials say Milord is responsible for the deaths because he is the owner of the property.
Meanwhile, the family of one of the victims is suing Babylon and Milord for $20 million, saying they were each responsible for the deaths.
Though Milord is facing multiple housing violations, he has not been charged with any criminal violations in connection with the deaths.
