Flights are arriving to and departing from LaGuardia and John F. Kennedy International airports after an earthquake shook the tri-state area.
The airports recommend that passengers check with their airline carrier for any updates to their flight status.
News 12 spoke with passengers who flew into LaGuardia Airport on Friday. Some said they were flying during the earthquake, and the pilot made an announcement about it.
“He said it was smooth sailing. We were gonna fly right in without a problem, but I was just like, 'Oh my God, that had never happened before,'” said one flyer.
“I was just grateful that I was in air at the time. Hopefully, we won’t feel tremors while we’re here," said another flyer.
The earthquake hit shortly before 10:30 a.m. Friday. The U.S. Geological Survey said residents felt it across the Eastern Seaboard.
Town of Islip officials said flights were not interrupted at Long Island MacArthur Airport.
