Dozens of people are hoping to shine a light on pediatric cancer in Rockville Centre.
The community held a gold tree lighting ceremony in front of village hall for Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, which is September.
Carol Ruchalski, who lost her 12-year-old daughter last year, says she organized the event to make more people aware of childhood cancers.
All the money raised will go to pediatric cancer research.
