The Town of Hempstead has voted unanimously to approve the "Do Not Knock" program.
Officials say residents can put a "Do Not Knock" decal on their door to ward off solicitors. The solicitors who ignore it can be hit with fines as high as $1,000, town officials say.
The Town of Oyster Bay already has a similar anti-solicitation program.
Officials say to contact Town Hall to get a decal.
