A piece of Long Island history could be yours - if the price is right.

There's a small red home nestled in Greenlawn, known as "The Little Cottage," that dates to the late 1700s.

Robert and Laura Dunne have lived in the home since 1989 and call themselves "the caretakers of the red house."

The Little Cottage was originally the home of Revolutionary War soldier Morris Bartow.

Builder Russell Rhode would later buy the home and restore it after it fell into disrepair.

The house was moved in 1945 about a mile from its original location, and at that time, a remarkable discovery was made in the basement.

“There was evidence in there that Revolutionary soldiers hid in there during the Revolution," said Laura Dunne.

Sarah Brown, with the Greenlawn Centerport Historical Association, says this home is the oldest in the community.

About 250 years after it was built, it is now on the market for over $1 million.
