A Nassau police officer was seriously injured after a suspected drunk driver plowed into the back of his patrol car on the Long Island Expressway.
The accident happened early Thursday morning east of exit 43 in Syosset. Police say 19-year-old Yookyung Kim, of Bayside, rear-ended the patrol car right after Officer Edwin Martinez pulled over another vehicle.
The officer, who has a concussion, is in serious but stable condition. So far, Kim has only been charged with driving while intoxicated. He did not sustain any injuries.
