A Bridgeport man and suspect in last week's armed robbery in Fairfield is now in custody, police say.

Wesner Thelamour was arrested for having an illegal gun during the March 2 robbery at the News Express on Tunxis Hill Road.

Police say Thelamour entered the store wearing a mask, displayed a handgun and obtained an undisclosed amount of money before he left the area.

During their investigation, police worked with Stamford and Bridgeport Police Departments to identify people connected to the incident. Detectives also noticed there were similarities between this incident and cases under investigation in Stamford.

As a result, officers were able to receive search warrants for Thelamour's vehicle and home.

He was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit and held on $20,000 bond.

Police say detectives found pieces of evidence connected to the robbery that will lead to additional charges.
