A walk-in complaint to the Southampton Town Police about alleged physical abuse of an elderly man has resulted in the arrest of a 63-year-old man.

On Monday, police say they were told an elderly man was being abused at the hands of his live-in caretaker.

Detectives began investigating and went to the Hampton Bays residence at the center of the complaint, where they found the two men together inside.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for an evaluation and treatment while the suspect, Michael Roopnarine, was taken to police headquarters for an interview.

The Queens man was arrested and charged with two counts endangering the welfare of a vulnerable, elderly, incompetent, disabled person.
