Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi is set to deliver an emergency budget address Monday morning.News 12 Long Island has learned that Suozzi will ask all county employees to take a 7 percent pay cut. If the workers do not consent to the cuts, sources say Suozzi will announce 850 layoffs. Sources say the layoffs will affect an unspecified number of police officers, 320 civil service/union employees and 300 corrections jobs and non-union positions.The plan calls for closing county offices for 26 days this year. Employees would not be paid on those days.The county executive will also seek a cigarette tax, red light cameras and a traffic ticket surcharge. News 12 Long Island will carry the budget address live at 10:30 a.m.
