Suffolk County has implemented a new strategy for keeping sex offenders from clustering in certain towns.
Chief Deputy Commissioner of Social Services Greg Blass says trailers that house up to five homeless convicts at a time are being used as temporary emergency housing. According to Blass, two security officers guard the trailers during the 8 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. curfew. The trailers are moved after a week or two to different county-owned properties.
County officials only give out the trailers' location to police. The general public can then obtain the information on related Web sites, like Parents for Megan's Law.
