A Shirley woman who intentionally hit a teenager with a car and then fled the scene was sentenced Friday to up to four years in prison, Suffolk County district attorney says.

Prosecutors say 35-year-old Jennifer Nelson intentionally ran over the 15-year-old victim twice in a parking lot near William Floyd High School in October 2022.

Nelson struck the teen because she thought that the victim had robbed her son.

The 15-year-old broke multiple bones, ribs and suffered a punctured lung.
