Dozens of members of the Suffolk County Police Department are moving up.
County Executive Ed Romaine and the acting police commissioner announced 69 promotions today. That includes a new chief, deputy chief and three deputy inspectors.
The department has been working to rebuild its ranks.
Officials say Suffolk will be safer because of those efforts.
