The pandemic is raising fears of a rise in alcoholism in Americans.

A new study found that Americans over the age of 30 are drinking more frequently and having more drinks when they do.

Research from the journal JAMA Network Open says the overall frequency of alcohol consumption is up about 14% from last year.

Heavy drinking among women increased by 41%.

Doctors warn that increased alcohol consumption could have serious health effects.
