Students in Bellport learned that with hard work, the sky really is the limit.
Young pilots-in-training took their first flight Monday at the Flight Training Program at Eastern Suffolk BOCES.
Wilfred Torres is a first-year student in the program. Half of his day he's a senior at Central Islip High School, and the other half is spent at BOCES.
After numerous preflight checks, the students got to fly a Cessna 172 over runway 33 at Brookhaven Airport in Shirley.
There are about 60 students in the first-year class. The second-year students are about half that amount.
