Students and faculty members gathered at Island Trees High School in Levittown Wednesday night to cheer on an "American Idol" hopeful.
The crowd watched as 16-year-old Kevin Covais, a junior at the school, performed Marvin Gaye's "Heard It Through the Grapevine" in an effort to pass through to the next round. Covais is one of the final 10 male performers on the show.
Students were invited to bring their cell phones into the auditorium to vote for Covais after the show was over. Results will be released Thursday night.
