Street parking is being restricted near the UBS Arena following residents’ complaints.

Residents in Elmont were frustrated over vehicles blocking driveways, and arena customers hanging out near homes.

The Hempstead Town Board voted unanimously to enact the new regulations.

The limits will keep non-residents from parking on roads off Hempstead Turnpike.

The Town Board is also looking at other possible parking restrictions.

Greg Blower, the director of communications for the Town of Hempstead, told News 12 in a statement, "The Hempstead Town Board responded to the needs of the residents surrounding the state property that houses the arena in an effort to preserve the quality of life and enhance safety in the community."
