Gov. Kathy Hochul signed the state budget into law Friday, more than a month after it was due.
Long Island school districts will be receiving more state aid from Albany than last year - but several school districts are still considering budget cuts or asking residents to pierce the tax cap.
Robert Vecchio, from the Nassau-Suffolk School Boards Association, says the issue lies with a tax cap that is far below inflation rates.
According to figures from the state Comptroller's Office, that gap over the last four years is more than 11%.
