A dramatic 911 tape was played in court Thursday as the trial got underway for a Patchogue woman accused of killing an anti-gang activist.
Ann Marie Drago is accused of criminally negligent homicide after running over and killing anti-gang activist Evelyn Rodriguez back in 2018.
Rodriguez's daughter, Kayla Cuevas, and her friend Nisa Mickens were brutally murdered in 2016 by MS-13 gang members. Authorities say Rodriguez was hit in Brentwood prior to a vigil for her daughter and her friend. Prosecutors say Rodriguez and Drago got into an argument when Drago destroyed a memorial for the girls.
