The Dix Hills Water Authority is putting irrigation restrictions in place due to a shortage.
Houses with odd-numbered street addresses may irrigate on odd-numbered days only, while even-numbered addresses must irrigate on even-numbered days.
Customers must follow the protocol until Sept. 30.
Customers are also encouraged to restrict irrigation times to off-peak hours, which are after 8 a.m. and before 12 a.m.
Officials say about 8,100 homes and businesses are affected by the shortage.
This comes after the Suffolk County Water Authority enacted similar restrictions.
