STORM TEAM UPDATE: An incoming weather system could create a wintry mix followed by icy conditions. This could pose hazards on the roadways on Thursday morning. We are still gathering information on this system, stay with News 12 and we'll post new updates as they become available.
There is a Winter weather advisory for Thursday morning into early afternoon.
It will be quiet but cold, with temperatures barely making it out of the it out the 30s for our afternoon. Feel like numbers start in the single digits and teens, and won't feel anything better than the 20s despite the sun!
Thursday morning will be messy with a wintry mix of weather. With the storm's forecasted track, warmer air will be moving into western Connecticut but not quite fast enough to see all rain. With colder temperatures to start, we will likely see a couple of inches of wet snow and then some ice from sleet or freezing rain. Coastal areas south of I-95 will likely see less snow, but slightly more ice and then plain rain. There still is uncertainty with the track and how much of each precipitation type we will see fall and collect.
Temperatures tomorrow will start out in the teens and 20s in the morning, then only rise into the middle 30s by the afternoon.
This cold air will enable the snow to fall first by Thursday morning.
Temperatures on Thursday will rise to near 40 degrees in the afternoon. The snow and even ice should start to melt, but there is a high risk of refreezing for Thursday night.
Friday will be milder, but Saturday will get colder again. The next storm approaches for Saturday night and there is the potential for a similar storm that could bring snow and wintry mix to our area again heading into early Sunday.
