Stony Brook University students protest planned program cuts
Stony Brook University students protested Wednesday against planned program cuts.
They're against possible plans to end undergraduate majors in theater arts, cinema and cultural studies and comparative literature. The $1.5 million in cutbacks would also combine some language departments.
Some students say the programs are vital.
"They're the cornerstone of higher learning," one student said.
The college said in a statement: "We are looking at all aspects of the University in an extremely challenging budget environment. That said, no final decisions have been made on any program changes at this time."
