Stony Brook University held its first outdoor graduation ceremony in over a year on May 19.

The graduates were seated in chairs that were strategically placed several feet apart from each other on the university's football field.

Last year's graduation was virtual due to the ongoing pandemic.

There were almost 5,000 bachelor's degrees awarded at the commencement.

The event made history because it was Stony Brook University's largest number of bachelor's degrees ever awarded in a single year.
