The son of Suffolk County's police commissioner Richard Dormer was stabbed in Saint James early Friday morning. Investigators say the stabbing happened at around 2:20 a.m. in the parking lot of the Irish Viking bar. Police say one of 21-year-old Michael Dormer?s friends got into a fight outside the bar with a 20-year-old man from Selden. Police say Michael Dormer was coming to the defense of the friend when he was stabbed in the stomach by the Selden man, Michael Kiernan.
Cops say bouncers from the bar chased down Kiernan in a 7-Eleven parking lot across the street, where he was arrested. Dormer was taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Kiernan is charged with assault.
